A silent witness to the Roaring Twenties.

Handcrafted in our workshop in Fribourg, this faceted carafe is a relic of the past. Made from a wine bottle dating back to the 1920s, it carries with it over a century of history. Its distinctive silhouette, recognizable by its pronounced shoulder, evokes the glassmaking craftsmanship of an era when every container had the weight and stature of a precious object.

Each piece is unique:

  • A truly exceptional piece of glass: With its deep moss-green hue, the glass is dense, dotted with tiny bubbles and cooling “ripples” that are no longer found in modern glass. It is a piece of glass that has “lived,” whose organic appearance captures light with a unique softness.

  • An architectural silhouette: Unlike contemporary bottles, this one features a bulge below the neck that guides the hand and catches the eye. It is a rare shape, inherited from the cellars of a bygone era, which gives the decanter an almost stately presence.

  • The Kulô Balance: Our angled cut breaks the solemnity of this century-old glass, infusing it with a modern energy. The contrast between the sharp, polished rim and the patina of the antique glass bridges the gap between 1920 and today.

More than just a carafe, it’s an upcycled heirloom. It does more than simply serve water or wine; it brings to your table the elegance of a heritage that has stood the test of time, transforming before your eyes into a work of functional art.

A note from the artisan:
Working with glass from the 1920s is a special experience. You can feel a different resistance and spirit beneath your fingers. This carafe is the oldest piece in our Expatriés series: it hasn’t just changed countries—it has traveled through a century to reach your table.
